Any initial questions you have can be covered off on a brief phone call or via email before we meet for an initial meeting.
After that, all sessions last for 50 minutes and take place in central Bristol. The initial session will be a chance for us to meet each other, and for you to talk about what brings you to counselling. If we agree to meet for regular sessions after that, we will agree a mutually convenient time each week to meet.
Whilst it is difficult to predict what our sessions will feel like, I will always strive to create a safe, non-judgmental environment for us to explore the issues that you choose to bring.
Our sessions will be confidential. I may discuss our counselling with my supervisor, who is also bound by this confidentiality. If I feel that there is a risk of you seriously harming yourself or someone else coming to serious harm, then I may need to contact your GP. If I need to do this, I will always do my best to discuss this with you first.
When we meet for regular sessions I will ask you to sign a contract that outlines how we will work together, as well as other details such as what to do if you can’t make a session.
